Hyderabad Emerges as a Global Healthcare Hub with HCA Healthcare GCC Launch

Hyderabad Positioned as a Global Healthcare Hub

Hyderabad is set to become a “Global Healthcare Hub,” announced Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, Duddilla Sridhar Babu. The minister inaugurated the Global Capability Center (GCC) of the world-renowned HCA Healthcare at Rayadurg on Wednesday. HCA Healthcare, primarily operating in the US and the UK, has 190 hospitals, 2,400 care sites, and over 316,000 employees, generating an annual revenue of $70 billion.

First GCC Outside the US in India

Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted that HCA Healthcare’s choice of Telangana for its first GCC outside the US reflects Hyderabad’s world-class infrastructure and highly skilled workforce. Spread across 400,000 sq. ft., the new center represents a $75 million (approximately ₹620 crore) investment. The GCC will not only generate employment but also drive innovation and quality standards in healthcare.

Employment Opportunities and Sector Growth

Currently, the GCC will employ 1,200 professionals across IT, supply chain, procurement, HR, finance, and accounting, with plans to expand to 3,000 jobs by 2026. Hyderabad is emerging as a gateway for global healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and life sciences, hosting over 800 pharma companies and multiple global life sciences GCCs. The city combines advanced medical infrastructure with world-class standards and affordable healthcare delivery.

The launch event was attended by Special CS Sanjay Kumar, Telangana Life Sciences Director Shakti Nagappan, IT Advisor Sai Krishna, HCA Healthcare Executive Vice President & CFO Mike Marks, GCC Senior VP Emily Duncan, Hyderabad Center Head & VP Atul Kapoor, and other dignitaries, marking a milestone in Hyderabad’s healthcare and life sciences sector.
